Made a change in photo. Still grasping the concept of "stock". (5 years and 3200 days ago)

avatar RayTedwell

I think this is a great shot. Love the DOF too. From a photography standpoint this is really good, just personally I'm not sure that this is a great example of stock photography.

author says:

Thx Ray. I made a change. Trying to grasp this concept of "stock".

avatar RayTedwell

I guess its easier to look at pictures as potential stock when you have experience chopping them up . I think the keys are a strong subject of focus (which is all in focus), generally avoid anything that is too 'busy' or moving, OOF. I like this one because of the stong lines and various shapes. You could twist this pic in to a number of other objects.

My personal view on this would be to crop out some of the peripheral objects, such as the care & tree to give a stronger focus on the subject. But this is a better example of stock photography in my view. For inspiration as to what stock photography looks like check out one of rht many pages like shutterstock, sxc.hu. There are a heap of links in the 'resources' tab at the top of the page.

author says:

Thanks so much for your advice Ray!! Much appreciated. I have made the suggested crop.

Definitions of chaos on the Web:

a state of extreme confusion and disorder.

Hopefully a little different take on the theme but when I was watching these animals move I certainly saw the Chaos. (5 years and 3389 days ago)

I love the photography of his shoot, beautiful, the lighting is perfect the colours too ... nicely captured author.

avatar adeincyprus

stunning shot, but I don't see chaos here, just herd like behaviour.

author says:

Perhaps you had to be there Ade, but trust me, it was certainly chaos. They just walk into each other, push around, at one point they got scared of something and did a short stamped, shame I got no photos of that but it was certainly chaotic in general.

This is a great photo, I almost think it is wasted on this competition topic though.

Indian mango pickle... whoever tasted once, definitely mouth watring whenever they think off.. (5 years and 3449 days ago)

avatar adeincyprus

so it might be, but not in this shot.........it is dark and lifeless!

avatar jawshoewhah

I got to agree. From where I'm sitting it looks like a bloody body organ cut from the whole and then just dropped on a plate. I am thinking more commonly known mouth-watering foods would have been better for this contest, rather than the rare that are well, not as well known.

author says:

I agree with u all.. However, I wanted to showcase a dish which is really mouth watering..
