wow that is great it looks like a painting ps the scan lines, which i am asuming are the horisontal lines across the whole picture give it a nice touch like when paintings have a bumpy surface

fantastic work............it would have been nice to see a few more intermediate steps along the way to this.

It's very good, but those horisontal lines are so distracting... =/ Also, some cloning/stamping is clearly visible in some parts (you can spot where it was cloned without even seeing the original), so I'd fix that. But don't get me wrong I still like it very much, I'm just to nitpicky. =)

this is good work, but the face structure and skin tones could do with some work...they don't look real in the hi res.

It's overally good, but faces and skin look too fake to me... Too much painting and smudging.. But still it's good =) gl!

I can see where you are coming from Ponti, but the aim was to ..."make it look like it was taken these days in color with a digital camera. "........not a painting.....

Added some noise to make it look more like a photo and less like a painting.

Nah, noise makes it look older... just try overlaying the original faces, experiment with blending modes and opacities =)

Following wlado's advice, I "played" with the skin tones a bit more. This is the best I can come up with.

better, but still not quite realistic.....keep it up, you'll get it. faces and skin tones are extremely hard to get right.

The faces do have a bit of mannequinesque quality to it. It looked like a very difficult restore author, I commend you on such a well attempt so good luck!

there isn't much here to fix. it would have been nice if there was a lot more scratches or torn parts in the original.

I'd add a vignette and bring up saturation a little bit since it's kinda washed out. Also, the coat of the boy on left is not very good. gl!

its good but when I flip the bits and reposition on speparate layers, they all fit together realy easilly, with a slight rebuild on the mans leg.

Did you actually tear this image into 4 pieces to make for more of a challenge? Just curious.

I wonder that too... I also wonder why did you show some teared parts upside down.... Looks more 'dramatic' that way... :P Well, if it was really teared like that before the restoration then you did a great job making it look like it wasn't. No sign of it at all

This should of placed much higher. Looks more natural than most of the entries in the top 6.....all i can say is that people here havent a damn clue how to vote and whats involved in the work......but dont worry CMYK....you werent the only one ripped off!
One thing i did notice though was that the top 3 were all family members pics....dont know if that had anything to do with it though.
