About the lights, they look a bit weird. They're like cut off and looks unnatural. CHeck your 3rd source again, look how the ligths fades away. In fact why dont you use that? Just (roughly) cut out the right part of these rays and put them on the source image, play a bit with the blending modes, perhaps you have to duplicate the layers and see what result you get. I do, it is a good concept, maybe add some fog to add to the mood .. and a shadow.. or change the opacity and make him slightly see through.. he looks kind of blocky like that.. but good job :P

the figure is too 2-D...
