Very cute and creative. This really grabbed my attention! Shadows are a concern, however. Aside from the fact that the body doesn't cast any shadow at all, it seems to me that the light is from the front and not the back as implied by the leg shadows. The feet and left side seem lit from the left. Also, the head has odd bulges and I think the red stripe should be parallel to the neck seam. And the floor cracks look fake -- on top of instead of into the floor.
Author,R2 is constructed very well, and i will give u few suggestion only because this could be amazing entry, and i would like to see it like that before contest end.Bottom parts of the body where write "tickets change" and opposite side needs a bit more curving, now looks to flat, and u could use some shading there to achieve 3D look.U could use the same technique on the top of the "head" and the "arms-legs".Also u could use blur brush, opacity set to 50% to make some edges a bit softer.Sorry for nagging author, but i like your creation very much ("big fan of star wars"...lol...,and this could be top entry for sure...
UPDATE: New shadows on the entire bot and on the ground. The cracks were darkened and highlights added. Edges of the bot were blurred. Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions; hope you like!
This would be a good example of an exception to the rule of using someone else's design. Although R2-D2 originally designed by John Stears for the Star Wars movie, it makes it more of a parody because you included the source so well. So good luck!
Well it's about time someone submitted a robot. I really like this one. Reminds me of a transformer. This it really cool how you used so many different parts of the source to come up with this. GL!
LOL 59.8 I need to re-think even starting a image for this site. Sorry to say but its vote by numbers here the winner is R2D2 with ref. the ref being google image search from google. lol well I guess I know now that WTH why make a image when I can just puke up a old one. the voting needs to be looked at.
@gamemastertips: Could you please direct me to the web address of the rules and guidelines that say we can't chop beyond recognition? I looked through the general rules and the photoshop rules and didn't see anything about how much a source can be chopped. Maybe I'm missing it? Please send a private message to me so I know where it is.
k5683, will you please stop picking on me about the CBR? I never even said it was against the rules. It's just a matter of taste. Some people don't like images where textures are cut up and warped rather than the source actually being maniuplated. If you want to argue words, the contest headline says "photoshop this image." Not "chop this image up into itty bitty chunks of texture." Once again, this entry only straddles what I consider CBR. It's still pretty good.
Thanks for the comments!..@ CMYK, if u look at the initial drawing, the second hand is supposed to be like a gun or blaster of some sort..lol..but i realized that from this angle i couldn't show that..@ gamemastertips, i know what you're saying, i am a person that really dislikes CBR..but i had that in mind with this image and i tried to incorporate as much as i could..IMO its close to CBR but the robot couldnt have been made without it..
Of course, author, I realize that. And you did an awesome job with it. Trust me, this is nothing compared so other CBRs I've seen. :p Good luck!
jawshoewhah [banned] says:
You don't have to go to the Rules to get the common sense behind CBRing a source. K5683, why is that so hard for you to understand? IT DEFEATS USING THE SOURCE!!
Y'll really need to lighten up on your CBR BS.
I see this every week and it is not constructive critique.
Some people like it and others don't.
To me this is influencing voters and is not right.
Also generates needless bickering on a members entry.
Why not just vote and red flag if you think it is against the rules?
Okay now THAT is pure genius. Extremely well made author...great work!
awesome work
Wow! Amazing! Incredebly awesome work!
A good way to use the source.... beautiful result.... GL author.

This is very cool! And really "sad" for it loneliness.
Awesome work author
A fav from me!!! Really nice. (the 7-year son commented: "R2D2 doesn´t have three legs!"...)
Very clever work author. Well done!

Very Nice, reminds me of my favorite little bot.... GL
Oh and I saw your SBS. Nice job just putting it together from memory, without using an R2-D2 source to match to.
