According to the Greek mythology , Pandora was the first woman. She received a present from Zeus - a jar that was not to be opened. But out of curiosity she opened the jar and the myth goes that with that she released all the evil in the world. When she closed the jar again, only hope was still captured.

Your goal in this contest is to depict a facet of this story. It can be Pandora with the box/jar or a visualization of the evil that got loose in the world after she opened the it. Anything else works just fine, as long as it relates in an obviously manner to Pandora's box story. You are not bounded to the Greek times,modern interpretations are also allowed.

Keiley22: Honestly I have no time to make something at the moment, bu I thought of a woman sitting in the water with tree braches coming off her like tattoo's... looking in an upward pose. The scenery being a water fountailn with some kind of vase in it. In the middle of a vase sits a pure and simple dove being a symbol of hope.... some evil coming out of it but thats the part im having trouble with...... i honestly can't make a picture with evil in it lol ( 5 years and 3334 days ago )

Pandora battled her way through the maelstrom to close the lid on the tempest she'd released. A ray of hope at the bottom of the jar called to her and gave her the strength to carry on.

Possibilities
dance in her head.
What pleasures
might there be?
Riches unbounded,
beauty unsurpassed,
joy beyond imagination.

But, what â€”
what if instead, dread
lurks there,
the terrors of centuries
waiting
in tenebrous depths?

Momentarily
a fleeting thought leaves
only a chill
Nothingness â€”
could it be empty?

Mind in chaos,
unbearable curiosity
outweighs all caution;
she can no longer
restrain her hand.

Trembling with
anticipated delight
(or is it fear?)

with the latch.
