The cables embedded in the amber add a level of authenticity here and look fantastic. The use of human facial elements (while blended well) i think reduce this element of mystery.. but i think comedy was what you were going for.. and you pulled it off well. High marks from me

well built -- would soften the edge of the horseman and its base -- the edge is a bit ragged with stray pixels and the bottom is a bit too straight a line

Edit -- the changes are very well done -- has improved thsi image quite a bit

this also lacks depth IMO

The white highlights are a bit distracting. In Photoshop, Image>Adjustments>Selective Color>White will help you adjust them down without affecting the rest of the image.

I think this is very cool.. just maybe add some shadows and highlights to give it a bit of "oumf" good luck

JamesD is right, try playing with different blend modes with the amber over the statue to give you different effects, or alternatively try painting in some shadows and highlights.
