I've seen your comments a lot but not in photography so I don't know you but I have to say this shot is WOW! Grea SDS for me! Course I'm not a PS person... no imagination here but I loved it!
I saw some cute animal faces within the sponge man, and needed some place to set the little animals, so the tree evolved at that point. Merry Christimas all!! Just the source used with some brush drawing added. (5 years and 3260 days ago)
Your talent of seeing dolls in the sponge man it's fascinating, lol. The santa hats are kinda blurry. they could use more precise edges, the rest is cool
HOW ADORABLE!!! I would have never though something so cuddly cute would come from that picture even though everytime I see that picture I see a sweet squichy sponge man! LOL
made me smile i like it. not sure about the guy standing in the distance tho with him being an exact copy of the the guy in the foreground, maybe flip him horizontally or move an arm or something. might look good still without him.
edit ..actualy i like how it looks like there marching out one by one might not look as good without him
The lighting is wonky. The ship is lit from the upper back, while the helmet shows an upper front light source, and the sponge man under the helmet shows no real light source at all on his shoulders... The shadow of the spaceship should be more to the right, and the base of the ship needs to show highlights more than reflections, particularly the LH side.
The duplication of the sponge spacemen is also too obvious, with the poses too similar, with the lighting problems at the base of the ship emphasized by the "cookie cutter" spongeman placement.
author says:
Mossy: Look at the source pic of the rocket. Then look at the shadow on the hatch. This gives you the angle of the sun. If anything, the ship's shadow could be rotated a bit more clockwise. If you compare the sponge guys to the original you'll find quite a bit of highlights on the lit side, and corresponding shadows on the other. Sponges don't exactly reflect a lot of light, know what I mean?
As for the highlights on the visors, they may not be exactly correct, but they look way cool.
i think you should get rid of the lighting on the helmet of the guy getting out... hes in the shade...
author says:
Taintedhockey, thanks, I agree...toned down his highlight, and also darkened some light areas on the foreground figure so he's not exactly like the background guy.
The edge masking is pretty abominable. Good idea, though.
author says:
of the sponge guy?? i added a low opacity layer of the original on top to add some texture becuase there wasnt much texture when i whited him out... ill see what i can do though.
Author, you only whited out his lower half, the upper half is all grey. I can't figure out how or why you did that. I'd like to help but I'm kinda clueless here. Also about why his edges are so smooth.
author says:
Idk why it did that. everything i tryed either Desaturated it... or made it look like it was just white. the only part that worked is the bottom part .. but i guess its half Sasquatch, half yeti, and all sponge... haha. and the edges are just followed the way it was... i used the blurred eraser tool to cut him out i just followed the lines. Even in the original the top of the guy is a little bit darker then the bottom
Try some disolving white clipping layer on it's torso. If you're lucky it will also look like snow, lol.
author says:
Ive come up with an explanation for him being half white. He walked through the creek in the background and when he was coming out the water on him froze along with the snow he caught. therefore making him be half white half black. hes originally grayish black.
nice work on the fur -- like the over look of the blend as well
Convincing blend
Kinda overly smudgy...a touch of blur might help...but it's a fun image!
