I think the shadows are too dark...

This is my first entry in these parts (or anywhere). Be kind? Also, tons of criticism would be very much appreciated. This is my first work since transitioning from Gimp to Photoshop.

I would suggest using healing brush to blend your background better and maybe work on the edge of the thumb. GL!

Hmm... is there a way to make it less blurry? I imagine simply using the sharpen tool will not provide fantastic results... yeah?

The goal was to make it look like a shallow depth of focus, guess my execution doesn't translate with everyone very well.

sometimes if you place the same image over itself (duplicate layer) and use the MULTIPLY layer blend it helps to define the image... it works for me.. good luck author.. awesome first chop

Makes more sense this way. I think you should have misspelled "of" and "the" as well

LOL...for that matter, do you think putting some type on the wheel is creative? You could at least have burned the edges to make the letters have some depth.

cool work author...u could use burn tool or very soft brush on the edges of the letters to create depth...also, this is just an idea u could make some letters not perfect to look like they ruined by time of usage...any how idea is very nice...maybe if u like Pirates and captain Jack u could use typing Black Pearl...
