I used lots of different layer blending modes. I modified the eye with the liquify filter. I added some shadows and color with a smooth brush and the gaussian blur filter. The blood vessels in the eye are made with a very thin and sharp brush, and the gaussian blur filter. (5 years and 3228 days ago)

You have raised the bar for this comp, great work.
I mainly like the birth/death symbolism, the symmetry that works wonderful in this entry, making it look like an eye and that you're awesome at creating moods.
Nice touch with the animated SBS.
It tells some sort of sad story. I like the mood you've created.
