I think giving the base a grounding shadow will keep it from looking like it's floating. Nice work author!

EDIT: Yeah...looks better...but I think I would remove the shadow from the sides and just leave the bottom area. Keep it feathered and smooth. Looking good, author!

Gruesomely eerie and interesting take on the source. Tree appears a little flat in places (could have used some shading to add come "curve" to the branches) but well put together otherwise.GL Author!

I like your use of the source image although if you were to add a little more detail in texture to your metal smith and his hammer, the whole image would blend together better.
