weso: this is not temple
( 5 years and 3234 days ago ) Drivenslush: what horrible person would have pasted a Poster on those gorgeous columns.. SHEESH!!! (beautiful image

)
( 5 years and 3234 days ago ) spaceranger: @weso-Isn't this the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem? In English the word "temple" can be any structure used for religious purposes, I'm sure no offense was intended. This is beautiful!
( 5 years and 3234 days ago ) woodztockr: Its a very beautiful photo... I believe the name should be changed, as not everyone is English and terms/meanings can be conflicted, it's not that hard to adjust, say sorry, and be politically correct? Just retitle and say "Mosque" Please?
( 5 years and 3234 days ago ) spaceranger: I agree the title "Mosque" would be more appropriate however I can't make that change that has to be done by Administration. I've requested that the title be changed so hopefully that will be done. Again I must say that no offense was intended, the site where this mosque stands is called "Temple Mount" which may be why it was mistakenly called "Temple".
( 5 years and 3234 days ago ) woodztockr: Wow! After doing some research, this is one of the most contested sites of several religions, maybe it should be named something else, it's very hard to decide, especially when people can manipulate in anyway they want... v/r woodztockr aka (Ordained Rev. TLC Abiding (no religious preference)...
( 5 years and 3234 days ago ) woodztockr: lol... Hopefully there will be some nice entries...
( 5 years and 3232 days ago ) spaceranger: Just found additional info: This is the Dome of the Rock, not Al-Aqsa Mosque. It sits across from and facing Al-Aqsa. Under the dome is the rock which is considered a holy place in three religious traditions. To Jews and Christians it is said to be the place where Abraham prepared to sacrifice Isaac. To Muslims it is the place from whence Muhammad ascended to heaven.

The frogs came out slow because their bellies were heavy with water, which they had stored in their sleep. The Rainbow serpent tickled their stomachs and when the frogs laughed, water ran all over the earth to fill the tracks of the Rainbow serpents’ wanderings. This is how lakes and rivers were formed.
Spirituality is Great.. It's religion that sucks
( 5 years and 3231 days ago ) Drivenslush: I like the idea of the world being formed through laughter and song... and no need of worship, but just appreciation for the gifts that are given.. look at a blade of grass making it's way through cement.. that in itself is pretty wonderful when you think about it
( 5 years and 3231 days ago ) woodztockr: Thanks for the research spacerange well done.
Thanks Drivenslush for the great story and perspective
I'm still curious as to the entries we will get for this contest, I wonder if other sites also have chops for places likes this, maybe someone will do Abraham sacrificing Isaac or Muhammade ascending to heaven? The rainbow serpent making the frogs laugh would be cool chop sometime or another...
but does this site and administration have any problem if I do a chop of Muhammadd ascending to heaven or something along those lines..????
( 5 years and 3231 days ago ) woodztockr: ooops can't edit... meant thanks spaceranger... sorry for misspelling..
( 5 years and 3231 days ago ) woodztockr: Pxleyes rules:
Your entry should not be offensive to anyone. If you have doubt, you can ask the administration or a moderator first.....But sometimes, it's absolutely necessary. If someone keeps breaking the rules or simply annoys the hell out of everyone, he/she will get banned.
I love the last catch all rule about banning even if you don't break rules and just annoy someone... lol... I wish I could use this rule for banning/silencing/terminating people... lol... it would come in handy.
I may enter depending on administration's answer? (remember I don't want to offend, but even doing a chop of this could be offensive to someone?)
Ok I'm done commenting on this contest...
( 5 years and 3231 days ago ) Contest Moderator: This is after all just a photograph to be used in a photo manipulation. If you wish to convey the historical significance in your entry that would be fine. There have been other contests that have religious or historical content so this really is not an unusual source image. As long as there is no overt attempt to be offensive in any way there should not be a problem. ( 5 years and 3229 days ago )
Drivenslush: the head turns of the Peruvian Natives still give me goosebumps.. they believed a direct photo stole their soul.. go figure.. Lots to consider.. sigh (I really don't believe in any rot that makes a person feel bad about them self)... glad I'm a recovering Catholic.. giggle snort
( 5 years and 3229 days ago ) DanLundberg: Chopping beyond recognition might be the least controversial approach because no one will realize what the source is.
