the bottom got flat as i did distort wave filter to create a kind of distort underwater feeling, there for i thing that for now ill keep it like this.

Overall I really like this image! The only thing that is bothering me is...if she is underwater, you wouldn't see drops of water on the plants. I also agree with Drivenslush. I understand what effect you were going for but IMO it looks off. Good luck!

Wow very nice -- maybe a bit of softening on some edges -- shoulder, both wrists and the left elbow -- all seem a bit to sharp -- but otherwise very impressive

PS -- softening the edges has made a big difference IMHO very well done image -- best of luck

mario, i don't mind if you don't like the piece, but there is no need to diminish it.

I was not required to post an sbs, so it was ok for you to visit the link and view the original picture. I did use dodge and burn, but the image was cut up and reassambled. i drew over the skin and drew the bald head.

sometimes, a piece does not require to use the entire photoshop laundry list of things it can do, in order for it to be powerful or effective.

Very pretty, ingenious compilation of your sources. Some very good creation techniques used. The mandolin and the way you made the table cloth from the lace in particular. Good luck and congrats for a very nice piece.

As lchappell noted, the mandolin and lace table cloth are very creative creations.

I think the shadows need refinement, however. The apple half should cast more shadow on the fruit that should cast more shadow on the mandolin that should cast more shadow on the wall. Furthermore, a shadow should be very intense (just one or two pixels wide) immediately under an object to ground it so it doesn't appear to be floating above the surface it's sitting upon. As the shadow extends away from the object, the shadow should be a gradient because ambient light weakens the shadow the farther away it gets from the object.

I would explore moving the painting northwest so it goes outside the frame of the image and has a greater overlap with the mandolin. Centering a table under the picture would also seem a more natural decorating choice. (An alternative would be to take the painting off the wall and rest it on the table.)

Great job on this, wine glass, orange and banana especially.

The wine in the glass does not look like a clear liquid, so much as paint inside the glass, because of the bluish/gray lighting on the bottom, while the inside of the glass shows a darker red with no gray tones. Likewise, the light grayish coloring above the wine and even lighter along the top far edge of the glass looks out of place for something transparent.

MossyB your observations (duly noted), seem to be based on your belief that my glass was intended to be totally transparent. It was never meant to be. From my point of view, I wanted it to be a translucent blue-gray color. As for the wine looking like paint...well you are entitled to your opinion. I however seem to think it is somewhat clear or liquid looking, seeing how dark the back ground is. I did however make a change to attempt making the wine a little more see through if you will.
