WPAP stands for Wedha's Pop Art Portrait. It is vector art genre popularized by an Indonesian illustrator, Wedha Abdul Rasyid. To know how the WPAP looks like you can visit here.
Your task is to create WPAP on any portrait you want in photoshop. The main thing about WPAP is no skin tone and curves...
SohCahToa: This is a fun one. ( 5 years and 3028 days ago )
dekwid: Wedha's typical form and technique is describing faces of the figures which are arranged in a mosaic of color broken up according to their facets. Not in the sense of cubism, but rather a harmonious range of colors combine to form a drawn character. Although his work does not detail, but able to represent the faces very well. CMYK46: SBS should be mandatory for this contest so we can all learn something. ( 5 years and 3027 days ago )
CMYK46: ANY portrait? Including copyrighted images? ( 5 years and 3026 days ago )
Contest Moderator: @CMYK46- Sorry but no copyrighted sources are allowed. As usual you can use your own photos or copyright free images. An SBS is always helpful but isn't mandatory. ( 5 years and 3025 days ago )
MossyB: Here is a decent tutorial on making WPAP images: http://popboxwpap.blogspot.com/2010/06/tutorial-making-of-shakira.html
Here is Wedha's own explanation of his portrait process -

Google Translate ( http://translate.google.com ) helps if you don't speak Indonesian...The most important thing, aside from the colors, seems to be the geometry, using ONLY angles of 90, 60, 45, 30 or 15 degrees. That's probably the hardest part of making an accurate WPAP...

Dear author,...you did a great job here....BTW, I myself always get frustrated in making WPAP hehehe, WPAP looks just that simple however when I try to create one it is really painful and frustrating indeed! hehe....

I agree with you dear MossyB so i've readjusted following your advices ! Thank you very much
VERY cool, but it's beyond WPAP to me (which is not a bad thing but exceeds the boundaries of this contest). I observe that the hairline shadows make the hair look like a wig.
Very cool! It never hurts to have a great start image, but your reconstruction is awesome. The red collar and cuff to match the red tie while the body of the shirt is gray is an interesting fashion choice.
I would consider making the 'white' of his right eye lighter.
The white on the ear is too distractingly bright for me personally. And the day-glo-green left cheek seems overly intense.
The pale-green shape on the neck also seems out of place. I would rotate it clockwise a bit and and have the bottom edge end at the red collar. Part of the problem may be that its lightness (relative to its immediate surroundings) is too 'foreground' or 'highlight' when one would expect that area to be background/shadow.
this is very good, love the bright colors and the colors mix well with each other. I also like you mixture of shapes and sizes you choose .well done. The composition is also very good and your shapes carry it out all through the image.
nice work

great work author
It looks better without the curves, but the squares are a bit too large and dominant - it takes away from the great portrait. Wonderful color choices!

Sorry 4 the SBS but i made a bad manipulation and put the pics in jpeg format.....
The shapes and placement of them are good ,but the colors do little for the work.
