It looks a bit odd for the creature to be looking up at...nothing. It would be a stronger image if you gave it some sort of background to match the title, and had the creature looking at that.
The head does not look attached to the body, it appears to be floating well in front of it, which is accented by the shadow on the bottom and the inconsistent lighting. The right side is so dark, you can barely make out the balloon ear on that side, while the white area behind the head on the left is distracting.
I'm not quite sure what you were attempting with this piece, author, but it looks very "thrown together," rather than composed.

This took a lot of time and patience, I'm sure, but the results are well worth the effort. Very nice work, without the "grapes" looking "cookie cutter" alike.
suggest re-shape the head of snake, can use real snake for reference.. the tongue should be a split ended one (like a ribbon on a present type)
good choice of background.. alas, no surprise or danger.. suggest add a frog as prey or something
