bjaockx: I want to do this contest, but since it is based off of copy written material, are we allowed to use images that are protected? ( 5 years and 2865 days ago )
bjaockx: still no answer to this question? why am i going to spend a lot of time on an entry only to have it pulled if i do something wrong. even though the description is vague and left open to much interpretation. especially since we are all creative minded people. ( 5 years and 2864 days ago )
Contest Moderator: As long as it has an object out of a board-game and this has an important spot in your entry and must be the focal point, eg. dice and chess pieces etc, any image that is copyright will require permission. ( 5 years and 2863 days ago )
Eladine: bj you can make a picture of a boardgame item/piece an chop it up... i dont see where copyright should be a problem.. ur not reproducing the piece... just make sure the picture isnt copyright. ( 5 years and 2862 days ago )
bjaockx: Why does the game piece have to be a taken photo? no where in the contest description does it say, must use photo of object. The object could be drawn correct? as long as the object is recognizable right? ( 5 years and 2862 days ago )
Eladine: it does: "This object needs to have an important spot in your entry" ( 5 years and 2862 days ago )
Eladine: oh wait i read you wrong.. anyhow.. I guess its alowed to make a full drawn or even a 3d entry.. though imo theres other contest for that.. that is just me though it is allowed i think ( 5 years and 2862 days ago )
Eladine: you have to draw it yourself though in that case... ( 5 years and 2862 days ago )
bjaockx: Thanks, Eladine! ( 5 years and 2862 days ago )
Contest Moderator: Any entry submitted after 2000hrs GMT Friday 24th February will be removed. ( 5 years and 2859 days ago )

Mirage of the Ancient Top Hat - created by pearlie

Mirage of the Ancient Top Hat

From Wiki: "Gentlemen began to wear the top hat at the end of the 18th century... and developed from a fashion into a symbol of urban respectability... The top hat is sometimes associated with the upper class, becoming a target for satirists and social critics. It was particularly used as a symbol of capitalism in cartoons in socialist and communist media, long after the headgear had been abandoned by those satirized. It was a part of the dress of Uncle Sam and used as a symbol of U.S. monopoly power. The character Rich Uncle Pennybags, who personifies financial monopoly in the board game Monopoly, wears a top hat."

Here we see a descendant of Rich Uncle Pennybags. Keeping the memory of his dear departed wife, Penelope Pennybags, in his heart, Milburn Pennybags has spent all his "pennies" on the finest transportation of the day in search of his own fortune - which turns out to be just a mirage. Like discovering that the real Wizard of Oz was just an ordinary man playing with illusions, ol' Pennybags finds the top hat is just a mechanical device of an ancient civilization, supposedly used to control the minds of the populace, and left to decay in the sands of a distant land. Oddly, Milburn's adventure is also an illusion, just a figment of his imagination. (5 years and 2863 days ago)
