Winning entry, with a score of:

Contest goal:

Your goal is to create a 10-second to 30-second animation illustrating the word "Jump." A trampoline, a jump rope, jumping jacks, jumping off a cliff, Hop-scotch, Pogo stick, you choose the set up. The main point is to show your interpretation of jumping. Your animation must be in .gif format, and all photographic sources must be listed, and at least 2 steps must be shown in an SBS. Keep in mind, that the maximum file size can be 5MB, so better work on a smaller canvas, if you plan to make the animation longer! There are also online tools to make gif animations smaller, if you run into size problems.

tk: This is listed under Photoshop, but is it alright not to use any source photos? (hand-drawn or maybe use something like Flash) ( 5 years and 2429 days ago )
robvdn: @TK: This is a normal PS contest, this means you do not have to use sources BUT it must be made digitally.
The entry has to be an animated .gif, if you can export to .gif (or convert your export to .gif) you are free to use whatever program you want, including Flash, Illustrator and so on.
About hand drawn: also allowed as long it is made digitally.

DO NOT FORGET THE SBS, IN THIS CONTEST IT IS MANDATORY BUT IF YOU DO NOT USE SOURCES OR MAKE IT JUST HAND DRAWN YOU MUST ALWAYS POST AN SBS: ( 5 years and 2429 days ago )
db765: 3D animated gif made with 3D software is allowed too?
Or are there going to be Animation contests in the 3D contest section? ( 5 years and 2429 days ago )
MossyB: Animated .gif is animated .gif.
Your source can be photos, drawings, stop motion, clay mation, socks, or anything else.

When you make an animation into a .gif, THAT is digital...Beyond that, it's ALL just frames displaying in sequence...

Just be aware that you only have ONE WEEK to create and animate your jump. ( 5 years and 2428 days ago )
JamesD: My only problem is.... if you're free to use any software you want, then it's not really a Photoshop contest. Not that I have a problem with the suggestion. ( 5 years and 2428 days ago )
robvdn: PS contests have always been open to ALL digital software, Photoshop is not a requirement it's just a name given to the contest type named after the noun. ( 5 years and 2427 days ago )
tk: @Rob, thanks for the explanation. Another question, does seamlessly looped animation count as being more than 10 seconds? ( 5 years and 2427 days ago )
MossyB: A seamless loop would only count if the original sequence being looped was 10 seconds.
Repeating a 1.5 second animation seven times would not be a 10.5 second animation.

Animation isn't for the feint of heart. It takes some true chops to make animations. ( 5 years and 2427 days ago )
lchappell: So are you going to use a stopwatch to time theses? ( 5 years and 2426 days ago )
MossyB: No need for a stopwatch. Open any .gif animation in Image Ready or in Photoshop's Animation palette, and you can see how many frames there are, and how long each frame is. Ten is still a simple enough number to count up to... ( 5 years and 2426 days ago )

Did not realize I had to reduce 70% to 600px W.
I used PS to do all this animation..... the idea for me was to learn about an area I never used ....I is not a program made for frame animation..the tweening is of little use ...Although the new time line in cs6 can be used for position and opacity type animations quite useful ..not to me used for this type of exercise . I just showed two quick pics in SBS. (5 years and 2426 days ago)
