CMYK46: Geez, who votes on this stuff? ( 5 years and 2377 days ago )
George55: Agree with you CMYK46! ( 5 years and 2376 days ago )
robvdn: Well guys... the admin picking sources wasn't good, now everyone can vote and it isn't good... what else??? ( 5 years and 2374 days ago )
CMYK46: I think people are voting for good photos regardless of potential for manipulation in PS. ( 5 years and 2374 days ago )
George55: That could be one of the reasons Bob, but I think if anyone votes for a particular source, they at least should submit an entry. This is not selecting a photo because it is good. It is about what we can do with that photo. It seems to me that we have had less entries every week now. ( 5 years and 2374 days ago )
CMYK46: George, I agree. If only voters could think: "Yes, this is a good photo, so I should vote for it...but wait...is that all I'm voting on?" THINK, people! ( 5 years and 2374 days ago )
photogirl723: I think the first entry really blows that all out of the water! If one has the imagination, anything is possible! Why don't you just make some suggestions as to what kind of images you want?? Be specific. And do tell what you don't want, also. Perhaps that would help. Bottom line, though: Imagination! ( 5 years and 2373 days ago )
spaceranger: photogirl723 is absolutely right!! A good image provides the material, a strong imagination yields the results. Just look back on previous contests and see how imaginative the authors have been...that's the fun and the challenge of a source.
Bob you've put your foot in your mouth before, I think you should stop telling people how to think, they do just fine on their own. The majority voted positively for this entry and the majority rules. Obviously there are some with a better imagination that can see possibilities you can't.
George you've proven you have ability and creativity and you should trust those abilities to create good work. Don't cop out and blame the source look to yourself for answers.
If there's a formula for a perfect source I haven't seen it nor do I expect to. ( 5 years and 2373 days ago )
photogirl723: Well said, spaceranger. It's not a matter of thinking, it's a matter of thinking creatively, having a vision and following through. ( 5 years and 2373 days ago )
CMYK46: Never told people what to think, just that they should. ( 5 years and 2373 days ago )
spaceranger: You assumed people didn't think about this source but they did, I gave it a thumbs up and obviously so did others. Fact is in the case of this source you're wrong...again. ( 5 years and 2373 days ago )
lchappell: photogirl723, I think the first entry just may blow all the others out of the water. It's Totally inspired and a super example of how to execute a photomanip. ( 5 years and 2373 days ago )
robvdn: The definition of a good source to me is "an image that triggers the individuals mind, this does not depend on quality of that image (an unsharp and small source can lead to a unique entry) it depends on the variety of images the individual mind is able to be triggered on."
Meaning: I vote more on variety in the source suggestions NOT on quality. The quality of a source we can correct and work with in Photoshop, the variety in what we get offered as a source on the other hand is what we vote on. There's no need for 100 somehow the same looking flower sources, Photoshop offers the same tools to 1 of those flowers over 100 of them, what I can do with 1 flower in Photoshop I can do with the other 99 also, what can trigger my imagination with 1 flower can trigger it on the other 99 as well. Let's take the first entry in this contest: it could have been done with ANY other source of a horse, zebra, goat, buck, lion or even a cow. The author of this entry 'just' had a freaking good idea at the right time and the skills to make that idea come true perfectly. (Please do not be offended author for taking this entry as an example).
When I down vote the 50th flower suggestion it is not because it is bad it is because it is the 50th. Hopefully suggestors keep this in mind and are not offended when they think "this is good quality, sharp, the image is big" and so on, it is just because it is more of the same.

Therefor when I vote I vote for variety; did we have a source or theme like this recently, does this source have something unique in it and so on. Quality and size do not matter "it's not the size that matters it's what you do with it" ( 5 years and 2373 days ago )

This image was truly inspired by the wonderful Artist and Illustrator Bev Doolittle, I thank her for her amazing artwork, and hope I did her justice with this entry.
