DanLundberg: It strikes me that ice is clearly water—as is steam although that might be hard to distinguish from 'air' in a depiction.

I assume the constraint that "[o]nly one element is allowed in the entry" refers solely to the person or animal turned into one of the four elements identified, not to the environment into which that transformed person or animal is placed. ( 5 years and 2424 days ago )

The description consists of three simple sentences and should be easy to understand. For those who have difficulty perceiving the elegant theme: Turn a person (Homo sapiens) or an animal ( of the kingdom Animalia .) into 1 of the 4 elements (which are) 1.) earth, 2.) water, 3.) air or 4.) fire. The transformation can be complete ( totally changed into the single element chosen) or incomplete (not yet at the final point of change into the single element chosen). Only one (1) element is allowed in the entry. Since there are four (4) elements specified logic dictates that only one (1) of these four (4) may be present in the entry. The environment is not mentioned nor implied so no specific limitation to said environment can be assumed.
