Most everyone loves dragons, for this contest create your idea of a terrific dragon. You can use a toy or a statue of a dragon or lizard, you could add your own enhancements to change them into your own version and you should make them look real. You could also create one from animal sources or any images you think will work for you. They can be ferocious or funny, even cute, they can be huge or tiny, whatever you want. The idea is to impress us with an amazing image.

Tough way to make a living. This dragon escaped captivity and now the brave dragon hunter has his work cut out for him.

Using two shots of the same dragon I was disappointed at the quality of the images but decided to attempt to create a decent dragon with them. I added the open mouth from the Trex image using warp to fit the dragon. The skin of the jaw was taken from the dragon source and overlayed on the jaw.

There was a lot of cloning and coloring needed over all especially the horns which I had to remake. The warrior is from Marcus Ranum on DeviantArt as was the helmet. The sword was added to replace the axe. Adjustments to the costume were also made. (5 years and 1387 days ago)

What a neat ear fan, and I love the nose horns ...
Do you think the even shade through out the piece causes a flatness? If you place the original Alligator(separate layer) over the chop and blink it (turn the top layer on and off) you will see the difference in shading become very visible. A SUPER SOFT Burn/Dodge brush over the even areas (darkening/burn the bottom of the head, and lightning/dodging the over all face) to give it more of a "Sphere Feel" then a flat sheet of paper. Just be careful not to over do it, the texture is wonderful. Each horn might be enhanced with burning gently on the darker side to give them more of a TUBE look as opposed to the flatness they carry at this time. (according to the light source). The teeth are a GREAT example on how the horns could look. In fact... just copying the shading of the teeth to the horns would work quite nicely. ONLY MY SUGGESTION. Very good work all round.. and as always... IMHO. GOOD LUCK.

Author, one suggestion: after a second look, I realized we should be able to see part of the ear thing on the left side of the dragon's head.

Corrected...I totally had that made and then forgot to make the layer visible when I saved it. You can actually see it in the SBS steps...D'OH!
