I love the mood of the image...Dodge and burn tools usually ruin the pixels of an image...Try creating a new layer and using a soft paintbrush with opacity set to 10% so you can control how much or how little you want. Use white or black depending on shadow or highlight..Good Luck

Author I agree sometimes the flakey look is exactly what you want Sometimes I use other colors when I'm painting to give it that look too...Glad my tip helped
