I tried to express the thought of "being lonely because you want to" in this picture.
Its a new style for me but I wanted to do something like this and I'm pretty happy with the result.

Techinques used:
Level balance in connection with the "cutout" Filter, to get the main simplified black and white effect.
A lot of puppet warping [CS5 only] and cutting+pasting to modify the silhouette. Stretched the Tree. Cigarette smoke made by stroking a path, distorting it, use it as a selection, put a gradient on it. Sun and cigarette glow with layer styles. I never remember everything I actually did when I'm finished. (5 years and 3520 days ago)

The reflection of the sun could use some more work. Maybe distort it a little bit more and give it a sort of ripple texture or something.. could blend more to right on the water. Hopefully it's not an optical illusion, but the gray shade on the right side of the tree looks darker than on the left side.
I think it would look more awesome, if you could relocate your sun to almost middle of the picture, showing little bit behind the black tree silhouette but still somewhat on the left. Would be nice contrast.
Pretty nice work for this being a new technique for you.
