Good idea, but masking doesn't look too great in hi res...
very beautiful and imaginative piece.. a little help on the sea weed.. isolate an odd number of leaves.. I think 7 to 9 would be enough and repeat them in seperate layers. and in seperate projects.. make sure each leaf is super clean and each is at a different angle or distorted etc.. then create a whole new layer and pull pluck them like flowers from the other projects. .then you don't have to go through the mind numbing task of masking things out.. I do it all the time.. but I'm also a psycho.. LOL
(a leaf brush tool will do this as well but it is very hard to control)
keep your fingers away - dangerous!
