In this image, i clone stamped out the original wings and tail and replaced it with flames. A couple of colour adjustments were added to the sky and as for the sparkling around the wings i just made a custom brush and increased the scattering. A speedy entry!
A phoenix is a mythical bird with a colourful plumage and a tail of gold and scarlet (or purple, blue, and green according to some legends[1]). It has a 500 to 1,000 year life-cycle, near the end of which it builds itself a nest of myrrh twigs that then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix or phoenix egg arises, reborn anew to live again. The new phoenix is destined to live as long as its old self. Would be a great image without the sparkly stuff...(which doesn't look very sparkly).

i like ur idea but imo the fire doesnt look connected to the body, and maybe u can fix the sparkle to be a bit more sparkling (maybe make it lighter and add another layer that is so blurred).

lose the yellow spiral thing ant it will be much better. imo. oh and "fire" link doesn't work (for me atleast).
Good idea..... the blending on the body could do with a little tweaking tho......

i like the idea somehow i think you shoud make the transmission between the flame wings and the bird body more smooth The wings it self look really nice

phoenix runt.. you used a seagull!!! why not something more phoenix like, like a peacock, or a parrot or something. mask in the proper beak and that should do it.
