The right edge needs work, and I'm not sure about the white stuff on the edges either, but it's a good idea...

It's a very good idea! I liked it a lot the first time I saw it used by Lodd in one of the contests....and I still like the way you've used it as well! Just a small hint, maybe you should have used bit more from the image in contest and darkened the big rock just a touch to bring more contrast to the whole image....! But....overall....great result!
