Very nice! Very steampunky.. i think this image could use a bit more contrast though. The mid section of the gun also looks a little over-liquified, but still very nice. Good luck!!
Edit: Now that i look a little better, your trigger could use some depth, it looks a bit painted on at the moment.
Cool gun, but looks more high tech than made of gear or operated by steam...
But hell, that would really blow the @&& outta H. G. Wells lol...
Edit: Hello, I am not saying it's not steampunk... The meaning of steampunk is really diluted but steampunk is originally based on machanics that operates on steam, thats why the name steampunk... Sheesh can't I offer my own view as you have given yours...
Also it's high tech in the sense in the period of victorian era... They actually didn't have lasers back then in victorian era...
HELLO!!! "Steampunk" does NOT mean "operated by steam"! It's a genre that blends Victoriana and high tech. Sheesh....
great source images and nice work...
Arkncheese, please check this out: http://en.allexperts.com/e/s/st/steampunk.htm Steampunk has very little to do with steam power.
The inventor of the term "steampunk" and the definition: http://www.answers.com/topic/steampunk-1
"Steampunk is a sub-genre of fantasy and speculative fiction that came into prominence in the 1980s and early 1990s. The term denotes works set in an era or world where "Steam power" is still widely used usually the 19th century, and often Victorian era England but with prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy, such as fictional technological inventions like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or real technological developments like the computer occurring at an earlier date. Other examples of steampunk contain alternate history-style presentations of "the path "" from wikipedia...
Here it is mentioned steampunk is based on era where steam power was prominent... So what does that means... Also I didn't mean to say your idea is wrong, I just stated my own opinion... Also everyone has their own style to represent steampunk in their own... You didn't depict steam power that's your style well I may show steam power...
Edit: I maybe not as old fan as you were since 1987 but I still know my way around steampunk...
The retro version of "cyberpunk" (a futuristic, online delinquent). Coined by science fiction author K.W. Jeter, steampunk novels combine high-tech fantasy with Victorian era surroundings. In addition, people like to use the steampunk theme with modern electronics, making them look like they were built in the 19th century.
I've been a steampunk fan since before Jeter coined the term in 1987.
gaaaahaaa the trigger looks fine to me! what COULD use some work is the scope, it doesnt look right. right now it looks like its attached to the side of tthe gun i dont think you meant to do that because the actual scope is on the top of the gun and some tiny parts of the gun should be more 3-d looking but other thatn that, the gun is awesome!

I agree with Tuckinator.. that cope should be further on the top..
The scope is purposely offset to acommodate those goggles where one lens is longer than the other. Here are some other examples of offset scopes: http://www.wetanz.com/rayguns/
In my opinion, you had it looking best at the step 6 level of your SBS...should have left it in color, sorry the simulated sepia tone just isn't working for me, great job creating the gun though
Hey is that replacing the lazer guns our cops like using over here lol.....i think its a fine image author, my own entry doesn't run on steam, but i go the impression that steampunk era was about inventions with metal/brass.... goodluck.
looks abit like a toy gun....maybe thats what you meant the scope is a little of,f and the trigger looks a bit imbeded in the finger gl to you
LOL...toy gun? That sucker would make even your SHADOW a memory!
