3DS Max
Render with mental ray.
The motorcycle was recreated from scratches using shapes, primitives and extended objects.

Okay, it looks good, and even though you're allowed to reacreate it from scratch, it just feels like the point of a source is defeated. I like it though.. good luck.
Ponty, actually this entry is a test. Discover this new rule few days ago and I want to know what are mods and PXL members reactions. Is something new and can be revolutionnary for the site.Just curious to see what will be the opinions.
Edit...if the mod will not remove it on the next half of hour
You used the source as a template, but you didn't manipulate the source image itself...
Well i like this and also your concept of taking the source image as ref and creating a whole new bike... Also a little off topic, is lightwave same as 3ds max??? Just curious cause I wanna learn Lightwave just for fun lol...
Edit: Just a suggestion, if you had made it in gold and silver type... You could have used some texture off the source... And hence you wouldn't be accused of not manipulating the source at all... I just want this entry to stay... It's cool...
you worked hard and did a good job. Even though I don't like that something can be re-created because it takes away from "manipulation", you are right in what you have done according to the updated rules.
CMYK, agree, use the source as template. Is not what the new rule proclaim ? Maybe the english is too subtle for me. LOL, not maybe, for sure. Arkncheeze, sorry, know nothing about Lightwave. But if you ask on forum about you will receive for sure an answer. Is easy for me to use some maps from the original source. But this is not my purpose. I want to discover what are the exact limits of the new rule.
OK, let me be more clear: There is NOTHING of the source image in your render. It's distorted and crude compared to the source, and you didn't use any part of the source pic in your final image.
i aggree with ponti. The rules sais its alowed so theres nothing to argue over really here... o.o; I cant say i aggree with it tho...
Author.. all you had to do is throw the finished image into photo shop and place a head light or the seat on the bike... just tweak it a bit, it will save you a ton of head aches (and the work is very well done) but I understand both sides of the arguement.. but it's good to discuss and figure out how to approach these wonderful new ways of manipulating art.. (melting the source into the background could work as well.. just an Idea )
real awesome!
Howdie stranger!
