I never even thought of using the grass
the Rawness of the bird really does homage to the source (I can tell by the SBS that you refrained from going cartoonie (which I do all the time) which makes this piece all more wonderful.. big thumbs up

Bird's a bit large for the nest...maybe shrink it a bit & try to make it a different color from the wood...
