IMO it's on theme. Just one thing: instead of using the natural hollow of the rotten apple (the worm is getting out from there), you could copy and paste (or clone) part of the texture, hide this hollow and make yourself a small hole, like you did for worm's body. When we look at first time, it seems two natural hollows - it occurs because the two apples have different angles. Adding a background also would be nice. GL!...
