Too much blur. Having just the eyes and the far background in focus hurts this image more than helps it, especially along the edges in front of the ears, where it looks too contrived and poorly extracted on the RH side.
Thank Mossyb, already patched the ears had not seen it, but I do not think I'll change the image!
Try to clean up the ragged edges on the eyes.
