Not bad at all. For the most part you've blended this well, with convincing results. You might want to tweak that blending around the horses head and mane. Maybe lighten the area around the hair some.

reminds me A LOT of the Parent Trap from Disney (the Hailey Mills Version). Has that whole visual feel.. good luck

I'd think about moving the title text to the left so it would have more contrast against the dark background area. Take lchappel's advice too, and you'll have a great entry!

Those are some great personal photo's BTW. Good way to combine them, into a children's book.
