I like the way you used the source and got this image done. Nice SBS...

I like the octopus very very very much, I like the shadows on the wall. But the shadows on the ground are a bit inconsistent, some are to harsh while others are feathered. I think you used the burntool, witch is fine, but try to do the shading in one movement, now you can see the second burning effects the first one. its better to use a soft brush with black/dark grey color and draw the shadows on a new layer, then lower the opacity of the layer to blend it on the background.
