I have a suggestion and it's just a minor detail. Since the source image you used only has two ants, maybe try to make them look more unique. You can convert each ant to a Smart Object and use Puppet Warp to move the legs around or tilt the head and rear end some. Also some brushing.. maybe put some shadows or highlights on different parts of the ants to make them look different. Even a little bit of color on their rear end may work. Also you may want to separate one of the "pairs" of ants so they don't look repetitive.
