If those statues are meant to be a gateway or something they need to have thickness.

The cut in half statue doesn't work for me at all. I think the scene would look much better without it.

Maybe mask the statue and place it either side, work on the shadowing.

I do like what you're doing here. It's looks like a religious mix up caught in a medieval triptych which you find in a lot of christian churches.
