Basically what you did was take an ice cream pic source and CBR'd it. (Chopped beyond recognition) The funny thing is you could get away with this if it was a sourceimage contest of say your source image because people do it all the time and get away with it but since this is a theme contest, it doesn't work very well.

I guess the two shadows are copying the two abstract mushrooms which remind me of pine cones as they are, hence the cold background with snow

Going for symetry instead of realism. I get it. But if you're going to have two shadows, the assumption is two light sources. Which I guess is hard when you're trying to use shadows to give a drawing dimention. I like your use of a "nub" to make the flower.
