The African Jacana (Actophilornis africana) is a jacana. The jacanas are a group of waders in the family Jacanidae, which are identifiable by their huge feet and claws which enable them to walk on floating vegetation in shallow lakes, their preferred habitat. They are found worldwide within the tropical zone. For the origin and pronunciation of the name, see jacana. Taken from Wikipedia.

Thanks to Sibylle Stofer artist from flicker, for providing the pic of the African Jacana. (5 years and 2715 days ago)

Look at those BIG FEET... there's a bird called the purple gallinule (it's really more blue in my eyes) that walks the lily pads here in the Glades and looks a lot like this guy very cute work

author says:

Probably it is from the same family..looks weird isn't it?, Thanks for comment Driven.

Good job, cute bird indeed. I only have one constructive remark to make.. would have loved it even more if the transition "new body - to - old legs" would have been smoother and/or if the legs would have been placed a bit more to the front. Other than that, interresting approach . Keep up the good work !

author says:

Hi Cassar: thanks for your constructive comment, your idea sounds interesting, I moved the legs a little to the front, as for them being old legs, well, they are from the original source. I also made the transition from new body to old legs smoother.

Removing hair without sharp objects is quite challenging. The image of Africa is credited to RainDroppe from DeviantArt. . The other images are my own. (5 years and 3269 days ago)

Nice image author...Few minor nit picks...U have to remove typing from the image...Crediting of the author of background is enough in your description...Also in high resolution is visible masking problem around bear/elephant front right foot...This is minor thing but work would be better if u clear that...best of luck

author says:

Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I tried to clean it up.

Good color work.
