Good colorizing on the head, although the figure kinda dies against the background...maybe create depth of field by blurring & slightly desaturating the background? Just a suggestion.

This is a update from my previous avatar upload. I know there was another avatar in this contest, and i just want people to know that i didn't steal this idea. I was planning to make one my own before i saw the other avatar. Hope you like this one. (5 years and 3310 days ago)
Really nice...
Just suggestion:
White dots is not looking real try to play with layer blending mode, I guess soft light can fix this.
Both avatars in this contest seem to be lacking the avatar ears and hair styles.
Thx Adhir, I thought the dots looked nice, but it is my first avatar and i guess theres always room for improvement, so I'll keep your comment in mind for my next one
To jadedink, I was thinking about the ears but after spending almost an our of search with no results within the free images sections, i just had it with the ears.
You have plenty of time to improve this entry if you wanted to. I choose not to vote til closer to the end if I believe someone can make vital improvements to their image that will raise their vote.
And here is a tut with a link to the ears I used on my first try at an avatar. I have done a few since the one I entered here and found some new techniques for blending colors and getting more of the avatar look I was going for. http://www.webdesign.org/photoshop/photo-editing/na-vi-avatar-photo-manipulation-exclusive-tutorial.18015.html
Hope that helps.
Thanks jadedink, im working on a new avatar now with this tutorial as a guideline. Its to bad i cant use the ears from the link you gave me. My work would be removed (AGAIN!) if i use it. But thanks for the link. Its really helpfull.
Well, I actually think the overall effect is good but in terms facial construction it's not naavi... one thing I would like to stress though is that flare type lights in this type of image are a big NO NO!!... LOL...
also you have to remember to put texture back into liquified areas as you're stretching the pixels out...
blending around the hairline is also noticeable but it's a tricky transition to pull off.
but overall, I think it's pretty good
Your work wouldn't be removed for using them as long as they are clearly linked. I know because I used the same ears in a contest here when I first joined.
And don't be discouraged when something is removed momentarily. At least they give you the chance to fix it and go on.
I really like your idea and your approach. IMHO it looks a little too blurry. Good luck.
I can't stop looking at the eyes
Try to lower the opacity of the white dots a bit more.
very nice Na'vi girl....good luck

Used the pen tool to draw the eyes, ears, mouth, nose, eyebrows, and hair. Used the brush tool to draw the face/skin. (5 years and 3310 days ago)
Not bad.

i think it will delete such as every time
a lot of pic delete
the matter is that the process can learn something, I think.
It is too bright and saturated to be looked at for more than 3 seconds, to be honest. Sorry.
thanks valvaneda and syntek
i try to do better next time

Well done, high mark. Only one thing that I noticed, there is a weird green spot on her head (top right), seems like it needs some retouching.
Yup, I see it...NOW. Thanks!
It's late, and my eyes are crossing tonight. Will fix it in the morning. Thanks again!
U did great job author...with few minor tweaks this can be perfect...Mikael is right about upper right part and maybe u could use smudge tool to create few hairs that out of the hair line to achieve more natural and realistic look...also just an idea maybe u could create thing that Japanese woman do with the lipstick just in the middle of the lips...
Great, Colection.
sbobet
I contemplated giving her the "full Geisha" makeup, with the snow white foundation, and Geisha "experience" shape (did you know that the size and shape - top, bottom, or both) signify the age and experience of the Geisha?), but felt that would be too far from the "ethnicity."
Hair is SUCH a complicated thing to chop well. Too smooth and it looks cut and paste...I gave her some loose hairs on the RH side, but the ones on the left just didn't look natural...I'll try again.
Thanks for your comments!
Great transformation & SBS...GL author!
Wonderful creation author! greatly!
wow! great job.
great job on the girl love it! It I want to be picky I see that the background looks a bit unnatural. First of all there aren't any shadows under the trees and secondly, more important in my point of view, the very closeup of the face does not allow the background to be in focus. It's unnatural to the human eye, if I look at somethin that close, I see the background out of focus.
It's an "HDR" (High Definition Resolution) shot, so the focus is the same near and far, and the photographer was using a strong umbrella reflector light, so the trees had no shadow...
I do appreciate your comments, thank you for taking the time to point these things out. I learn things I need to improve with every entry, thanks to fellow members like you!
uhm, HDR has nothing to do with the focus, it simply means bringing out details in the very dark and very light areas, thus producing an image with rich details in all light levels. Just for clarification.
Thanks for the clarification...
Don't deal with a sense of humor much, do ya? lol!
c'mon, are you kidding?
Pretty good , right side of the nostril is puffy and there is a lack of definition around the eye tear section.color is slightly washed out but I think I still like it. good luck.
This is well done... but... Asians usually have brown or black eyes...
I know, but then it would not have been much of a manipulation, as I could have just replaced the face with an Asian one...
Great work ! Good luck author !
Congrats!
Congrats, very nice work
