Balanced by sadness - created by Lelaina

Inspired by this quote:
There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year's course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.

Carl Jung

---

In case some of you wonder, how I interpreted this quote:
The nights and days shall be represented through the stars and the daytime background.
The curtain stands for the view you have for your own and also other people's lifes.
The girl represents the happy life, while her clothes stand for the "measure of darkness".
The two sad statues stand for the sadness, which is balancing the happiness.
The rope is in this case completely straight and not bend in the middle where she is standing, because it stands for the strength you need to have, when you feel sadness.
That is the same for the hands. They are part of the sadness, but they are balancing the happiness in form of the horses.

Very creative and a lovely, surreal image. Having the statues behind the curtain while the umbrella is in front of it might a be little too surreal, however. Also, I confess I would have struggled to identify the sad elements without your explanation. The colorful, entranced gazing statues, for example, don't immediately say "sadness" to me.

A lovely whimsical entry! For some reason it reminds me a little of Pippi Longstockings. Well done!

My first entry: I used only the original image. The tires are from the front knob, rims from the scale pans, spokes from the right scale hanging wires, the seat from a rubber foot, the chain from thread on the foot, the gears from the large knob in front, chrome parts from main stand, and the frame from the scale arm with gradiant fill. I used the transform and warp tools a lot. (5 years and 3764 days ago)

I like the idea of a magic balanced scale, but I feel like you could do better in the execution. A simple rainbow gradient overtop of the scale is a pretty basic design element and I'd love to see you expand on this. Sticking with the magic theme, maybe you could place a top hat on one of the scales or even turn the base of the unit into the classic "sawing a woman in half" illusion. There are endless possibilities with this one...you just need to let loose and go crazy with your imagination! Best of luck, and keep at it!

Thank you. I spent more time on it and now I have a better result.

If I could revote and add points for humor I would. This new version made me laugh quite heartily. Good job!
