As a newbie how do I know if a image has already been manipulated?

Good question author. Many times it's obvious, but not always. All I can say is try to develop a sharp eye. Sometimes the author of an image will say it's been manipulated in the description. GL on your entry.

The masking on the hair is super!
But, sorry to say, the background does not add to this feeling I suggest you have an extra look-thought about what to do with it...
I had to have 5 sources, so I kind of just put a bunch of things that went together in the background. I'll see what I can do to update the background. Thanks and thanks for the compliment on the hair masking!
I think this looks good. Nice masking and color change of the hair and eyes without messing up the color of her skin. At least the source you used for the hair mask is easily recognized as hair and not CBR'ed.

I took your advice Nator and removed the dark circles from the eyes. Thanks!

This is awesome. Great concept! Just a little nit pick, maybe blur the foot of the animal to blend it with the sand a bit more. It seems very crisp compared to the sand. Great job author, good luck.
**EDIT** The feet look great now. much better author!
Imm juts a tat worried what would happe when he really starts hopping... im not so sure I wanna travel this way LOL nice image though author
Don't worry Eladine, the inside is like the Tardus from Dr. Who
And thanks tnaylor for the help
Good one.
Imaginative and funny. Perhaps one suggestion...if casts such a strong shadow below...maybe dodge the top half of the people compartment thing a bit to give it a bit more depth. Nice work.
Hilarious, perfect for coastal travel!
Really romantic

I think the dress is too plain, needs some lights.
It looks like she is sunk in the sand up to her knees...
lovely drawing work on her hair and face good luck author
Love the hairstyling and the elegance of the dress, but the black seems a bit harsh. Maybe if the dress were in sepia or some brighter/lighter colour?
Great job on the hair!
