Super beautiful work
Great use of source, color & texture!
Wonderful job of creating something totally different from the source, yet identifiable.
Sweet little retro ride, love it!
I agree with MossyB. Love that the source is recognizable, but in a completely different form.
Great fun, great work!! I also agree with MossyB, excellent use of source, just what a source contest is all about.
Thank you for your votes and comments!
Congratulations

A friend of mine asked me to create the cover art for his new album. Of course, this is the version without text.
The image contains 6 different photos of mine taken over the last few years, combined to create a surrealistic & exaggerated "storm of the century" - like image. Nothing was from an outside source other than the brushes used to create the lightening.
Techniques to create the image were all performed in Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3.

Oh, I'd like to see a hi-res version...
This is very nice image but i don't see it as surrealism...Every single element is blended very well and all together presents very nice image but without surreal mood...Try to add some pieces that will enhance theme of this contest....
Congrats with a spot in the next round
Good luck on the next round!

very neat interpretation of the source author, GOOD LUCK!!!
I really love this one! Very nice soft blending
Beautiful mood, good work!
The top edge of the owl kinda dies against the background, but nice work.
Very nice, good luck
I think the darkoutline behind the skirt is A little too thick or dark maybe it really made the edge of the skirt sharp like a knife in contrary to the ege of the flooring where theres the same kinda dark outline on. dont get me wrong I really love the image , these two things just need to be matching a little better to make it perfect high score anyway
Thank you all for the comments! @ bob, i darkened the edge of the owl just a little bit. @ Eladine, thank for bringing that to my attention, its fixed now. again thank you all for your comments.

So, this is what a professional work of art is supposed to look like...my creations really tell me that I need to polish and learn and you are a marvelous teacher. Thank you for WoWing us with this beautiful piece, it is a winner. I am going to refer to your notes, which I appreciate oh so much, many many times. THANK YOU.
ha ha ha ha....I just voted and see it is YOU! I thought you were busy pouring paint. You are one great teacher.
Thanks Olga. I am still pouring real paint too. I just decided to do a digital finger painting while I wait for some real paint to dry. No drying time with digital work.
Beautiful effect of painting but there is one thing that upsets me: it is the position of the shadow, I would have personally put it to the right of the portrait because we see some light coming from the left.
I appreciate what you are saying Denlig but if you look at the original photo you will see the shadow and lighting is in the same position as what I painted.
The light on the photo is obviously coming from more than one direction, hence the main shadow on the left.
Thank you very much for taking time to comment.
Congrats on 1st!
Thanks Rob
Congratulations....
