The Kitten in Winter (5 years and 2776 days ago)
Check the corners of the picture inside of the frame, I like this a lot.
I know this is a simple chop, but the source photo was so powerful, I couldn't let it go. For once I thought I would just leave it simple and focus on the imagery. The photo of the woman was taken by Chalmers Butterfield. The gravestone is Eleanor Rigby's gravestone, albeit with some minor alterations. If you read closely, you will see the family lost a daughter at age 2 yrs 3 months on Christmas eve..
Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been
Lives in a dream
Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?

Added to and adjusted the beveling on the frame to take care of the corner issue. Thanks!
Funny, the other day I saw some documentary about the inspiration for the Beatles to make their songs. At first they didnt wanna admit it had anything to do with this real person, perhaps because otherwise they'd have to give royalties to the family Rigby (something like that was it...).
Good luck!
Less can indeed be more. The outer frame seems too light to me relative to the strong contrast of the picture, however. I am confused why "Eleanor" would appear to be "dreaming" about her own gravestone. Shouldn't she maybe be thinking about Thomas Woods's gravestone instead?
Author this is much better, I like your frame a lot. Good job!
Good luck
I like it =) good luck!
@ Dan
I think she is dreaming of the day that her name will be on the tombstone...missing those that have already gone before her and waiting to be with them, thus the "who is it for?" line....Gotta disagree about the frame though. It's one of my favorite parts.
I like the simplicity of this, too, nice work, including the frame. Author, I think your answer to Dan could indeed be what she might be thinking.
Now.... this is excellent..... very catching...

Amazing restoration, very nice and realistic tones.. good work!!
wow it looks good, but it also looks like you put a noise filter on it, which is okay cause i thought you did that on purpose ...
Looks convincing to me. gl
It's really good. I'd turn up contrast and saturation a bit tho. =)
Thanks Wlado, please see SBS in contest description. That has already been done to my satisfaction.
OK, OK, I just thing a liiiiitle bit more contrast would be good, but you'll get high votes from me anyway
nice work,good luck

This should of placed much higher. Looks more natural than most of the entries in the top 6.....all i can say is that people here havent a damn clue how to vote and whats involved in the work......but dont worry CMYK....you werent the only one ripped off!
One thing i did notice though was that the top 3 were all family members pics....dont know if that had anything to do with it though.
