I think the gate would have a reflection in the water, or at least have more of an orange glow on the water. Good lighting & shadows on the men.

author says:

Thanks. I modified it to show more orange reflextion

Nice shop. IMO the guy faces have too much red saturation for a night time scene and also because they are back-lit while casting shadows. Also, why is the dock green-ish? Since the stargate is ornage-ish, shouldn't the light cast on the dock have more orange in it fading away as it gets further away?

author says:

Thanks for your suggestions. I made some changes accordingly.

BWR says:

OMG that looks millions of times better. For the coup d'etat you may want to add the stars reflecting onto the water. And if you would like to do more, do you think the stargate itself would be reflecting and rippling into the water just like the dock is? I like some of the orange highlights coming from the Stargate that you put on the very edges of the soldiers. It makes the backlight look more real.

The hidden path to heaven revealed in a stone passage somewhere deep in the Forrest of earth (5 years and 3316 days ago)

I see what you're trying to do here, but the reason it does not look very convincing is that the perspectives dont match. The path rises much too steeply when you compare it to the ground in the source pic.

author says:

Yeah thats very true .. It doesn't look the best it was just very hard to find a
Good stone path to use and the one I got had a very wide base and practically no ending.. So it was hard to warp it because it got too blurry

Well that's why we have.. wait for it....wait... ta-naaaa : Vanishing Point!
It really helps cloning in perspective. No more blury hard warped distorted textures. Order now at 555- Filter- Vanishing or 555- Alt+Ctrl+V !

You did a good job, but agree that the perspective looks wrong.... good luck.
