My tribute to Andrew Wyeth. This is not a copy of any of his work. I tried to captured his style and feel.
It was a lot more work than just adding a filter to a my photo. I removed a house, trees, a mountain, added a sky and basically recomposed the whole image to get his "uncluttered" look. Photos used are my own. See SBS.
Mr. Wyeth work is copyrighted but you can see it here (sorry it is so long)

Great entry and a great sbs..., good luck to you
Beautiful. Nice work.
well shuck my corn and call me grits... I do declare I may have just peed myself.. a little (got my depends on so I am fine) .. Now do American Gothic ...purdy purdy purdy please?... hehehe.. super duper perfection.. and the SBS is exhaustingly excellent (I know exhaustingly is not a word but I may as well earn the thumbs down I'll get shortly... hehehe.. seems to be a trend LOL)
Any whooooooo... GREAT JOB!!!... I do back flips if I wasn't so top heavy (very big head) LOL
GOOD LUCK and awesome SBS!!!
Fabulous very peaceful scene author...i see some personal mark on this one...look very soul-ish...well done
so this is how to counterfit art - awesome work
Very, very nice!!! Yep!
Really nice, well done
Wyeth was a very subtle colorist. He was never this monochromatic. The hues of the main subject always stood out from the background.
Wonderful work, cool sbs! GL author
Hey man!! Love this result!!! Best of luck!!! fantastic!
wow! this is facinating!
On it's own it looks like a picture you took and just change the tones and texture, that's how good your blending is. But when you look at the SBS, you can really see how much work went in to this, and now I like it even more, goo job = )
@ Emik - Thank you so much for noticing. Your comment is really appreciated as I was afraid that the work I put into this would not get noticed!
Thanks to everyone for your comments and favs!
Very good entry.
WOW, this is incredible work, author! Great sbs, thanks for sharing, those are some interesting techniques. I think the high-pass adds a sort of sparkle to the foliage. I personally like the subdued tones and I think Mr. Wyeth would be impressed.
Again I want to thank all for the wonderful comments and recognition on this image. I was afraid it would be too suble.
I got really sick last Wednesday with what the think is Bronchitis or possibly Bronchial pneumonia so I did not get the voting and commenting I would like to have done but please believe me that as soon as I am on my feet again will be around to visit your latest art and fav anything I have missed! Hugs to all ... from afar as no-one wants what I have!
Congrats for 2nd
Congrats.., very nice work
Congrats!!
congrats and well done Nancie
This is why an SBS is so important - it's a pain to remember to grab a screen capture when in the throes of creating and tweaking, but only a detailed SBS reveals the intricacy of techniques used (and some great tricks!) This is strikingly beautiful in its subtlety.
As for some comments... last I knew, a tribute was a nod to a style, an interpretation, not an imitation.

This is great stuff!
Great idea, author! And you made it very, very nice. GL
amazing
That is awesome, what a clever idea.
It's an awesome idea, author, but you entered late.....
Truly amazing. Good luck!
Masking of the trees against the sky could be better, but the blending of the frog into the landscape is great. Nice to see another non-CBR entry...GL author!
Nice blending of the frog over the mountain..... looks cool and nice. GL author.
nice work ........
Simple but effective, great blending.
Weird living hill
Not simple!!! Wonderful!
Lovely idea and good blending ... bravo
Great work
the idea is great, and the blending with the ground is very good, too bad that the trees are spoiling what could be a piece of art...
Hi, thank for the comments. I don't agree with the trees comments though! Go check out some pictures of trees and forests, and you'll see it's not that bad at all. Remember they are hand drawn with a very handy scatter brush. Maybe you could say that they are not that detailed, but that was exactly what I was looking for in this composition. Again thanks you all.
This has a wonderful painterly quality and the trees are rendered in the same style and fit the overall image IMO. It's refreshing to see this instead of a hard boiled photo realist rendition. Beautiful image author!
Congrats for your second place, Sander! Good to see you back
Congrats for 2nd
Congrats

congratulation for 2an place

A picture tooken from the base of golgatha (the place where Jesus was crucified. Made with brushes, Alien Eye candy, Dream suit, and the source crosses. (5 years and 3241 days ago)
I would appreciate any feedback..Im new to photoshop and I really want to learn. So feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
I don't do PS so I can't give advise but I will tell you I do like this a lot. It's very eye-catching
Thank you sooooooo much...feels good to know somebody likes it.
Gee whiz, who knew they had cameras back then? Not sure if turning this into a snapshot on a desk helps or hurts, but GL author.
I also think you did a nice job here, I don't see anything that needs improvement IMO. This is a great place to learn with many helpful members who will offer tips and suggestions so welcome to Pxleyes and good luck! BTW you don't have to post a link to the contest source, only the other outside sources used.
I think now days they have three crosses on golgotha hill as a symbol. Dont quote me on this, I just heard that from a friend. He said it is turned into a tourist attraction for the most part.
Just googled it. No crosses on it now days. I think my buddy is full of you know what....lol. Yeah I posted the contest source, I didnt know. I just didnt want to get it taken off and get my reputation points taken away...It happend to me before.
Nice good luck
very very nice work author...i would suggest only to make crosses just a bit softer...nothing more...best of luck

nice idea but the refection is from your source 1 not the contest source also there does not appear to be a refection of the boat
please show an sbs, so we know where the source is being used
My immediate reaction to this image was "Oh, look, a reflection of Mt. Fuji!" (just a guess). It turns out that I was right on, but then you must be right off (as Alan2641 noted) unless the point of the image is to portray a mountain with delusions of grandeur--but that's not what's indicated by the bland title. And where's the source (to echo happyme27)?
The source is the mountain in the top of the background...My question is where did the city in front of the mountains come from? Where's the link for that source? High res would also be great author....Love the idea
Christy, the city is from the Mt Fuji image, but it is difficult to see on the link, you need to open the high res to see it.
