Only outside sources were a fine blue geode photo by nasirkhan at morguefile.com (Thanks so much) and a red hat by alice_palace at flckr.com. Girl is my own photo. (with permission). No fancy 'tools' as I just use Adobe PS6, but still an interesting contest. I designed the snowflakes since I don't have winzip to download PS brushes. (5 years and 3318 days ago)
The jagged edges along the side of the face are distracting.
A bit too filter heavy...I bet you could tweak this a bit.
Will do some tweaking, but Missy, you'd probably have jagged edges if YOU were frozen. !!!!!
Author winzip can be found as a free trial on http://www.winzip.com/win/en/index.htm I think it gives you 90 days or something to use it for free..There are plenty of free programs for unzipping files, this is just one of them..Hope this helps and Best of Luck
Thanks, Christy. I have actually purchased and downloaded Winzip, but haven't been able to get the registration to go through - even with advice from their technical help via email. Must make a phone call I guess.
Author for future reference I can always find a free program No need to purchase things that are open source out there....Just send me a message, I would be glad to help save you a few dollars
nice entry...good luck author

The background is too close to the hair color. Needs more contrast.
I agree with Mossy on the need for some contrast...It would really make her "pop" and enhance the look of her being frozen....Best of Luck
I am not sure you captured the frozen look here as much as you could have but putting that aside for a minute ... I really like what you have created here. Has an almost surreal feel to her ... fascinating!
I know what you mean Arca, i have tryed difrent brushes and effects and I didn like any, so I decided to leave her like this , frozen from something, cold, but not ice.
Its more "winter queen" then ice queen
Thanks for comments.
I'd have to agree, sorry. She just looks more like an extra in an Alice in Wonderland movie. Nice chop but not really a frozen person, IMO...
One of the best in the section for sure...She really have that ice queen look...
I understand different the frozen look, IMO she is more that frozen, not ice, but frozen for sure, we are diffferent so we do different works.
frozen or ice look, maybe is not what we see.
I really love what you created, but she looks more frozen than like an ice person. So for the contest, it isn't really fitting, but as a creation, it is really nice. I know thats what other people have said, so it is kind of redundant, but I agree, and just wanted to let you know that it is still nice, just not very fitting.

Nice effect! Really cool image! Good Luck!
great base photo,..the foundation!
I love the overall feel of the photo, great color and texturing!
Lovely ... has an almost sad quality to it.
Nice result, but without an SBS, it's hard to judge how much effort it took to achieve it.
I really like this piece. Don't care if you did it in 30 seconds or 3 hours, the final result is visually pleasing to my eye, no matter how much effort it did or did not take to achieve. Very skillful and well done.
I agree with MossyB! What's the difference how much effort it took if the end result is great?
i do like this
and its nice to see the stock photo you used to create it..
you didn't link your brushes though...could you maybe do so?
Thanks everyone for all the great comments!! I'm glad you asked Jadedink for the brushes because I had thanked the wrong person...lol....I had a lot of brushes to go through
I'm really happy with the final result of this image and so glad to know others feel the same way Thanks
I thought only simple brushes are allowded
Beautiful!
Great work author...effects are fantastic...best of luck

I think shadow is too much sharp; a bit of blur and slightly lower opacity would be good.
the horse needs to cast a slight shadow
woooooooow
so nice
very nice...gl

The filter effect needs to be adjusted around the edges of the body, She looks like she has corrosion holes along the edges, especially where her body meets the water.
The trick with filters is to make them not look like filters. Tricky, to be sure, but half the fun is experimenting!
Ice beach.. is that a play on words ? With some real ice instead of that water it would have looked better.
