make it darker and blurry as the image fades out to the end... that will give you depth of field

Pretty nice result, but for some reason it looks a bit Escher-esque. Which is not wrong, of course. I see some darkgrey colors behind Kanaloa's tentacles, that's a shadow? Maybe if you use one of the blending options (or lower the opacity a bit) it will work better. Overall well done , good luck!
