Hey, there's something fishy here! Tee hee. It's really good. But bulbs self sticking to ceilings seem odd to me.

author says:

XD thats what so fishy about it lol I just loved the effect and it matched the title :P

no avatar

nice job. is the ceiling that you have used use to have a fan on it? just asking due to the reflections. love the concept.

sorry author should have looked at resources etc closer.

author says:

if you check my sources then you can see there was no fan and it was no ceiling originally, the lamp was standing up and i flipped the source upside down, depending where the light sources come from this is a natural shadow

thank you for looking at and commenting on the work much appreciated.

The little "Cafe Metro" sign inspired me to use a subway / metro theme for this one. From the source image, I pulled the blue bulb in the foreground, the street sign and the word "Metro" from "Cafe Metro." I also used the airbrush tool to do a fair amount of digital painting rather than relying on blending layers this time.

Thanks to frozenchipmunk from Flickr for the background!

Maybe continue that wonderful white reflective line through the blue and continute it through the black cover shell (the black cover is looking a little flat) great visural over all

avatar Tuckinator

the idea is superb!

avatar spaceranger

Really good idea. I agree with GolemAura about the black window, it does look a bit flat. Bring back the highlight that was there before you blackened the window area. Black glass would reflect light just as when it was blue. Try copying the original before adding black and put it on a layer over it. Experiment with layer types like luminous and different opacities till it looks right. Adding the highlight would really make it pop.

nice idea ... GOOD LUCK

Yes, "elegant" is the word for this. Well constructed. I Only think, you lost something of the beautifull colors in the process (they were still there in step 5).

avatar spygirl1978

awesome

A lovely design and rendition but far removed from the source image.

Great image but where has the source gone? Your technique is good but really you lost the source in the process which is a shame. Safe this kind of entries for the theme contests or make sure the source is still there. You didn't need this source to make this image.

Beautful piece -- I love the way the bulbs all glow. Excellent use of monochrome, too -- all of the yellows play well together and make a very warm image. Something to consider for the future might be to pull out a focal point: here, you might have blurred the background more quickly and strongly to yank the viewer's eye to one bulb or bulb cluster in particular. Making the furthest background layer a little darker might have helped achieve the same effect, but I understand that this piece is all about light, so it makes sense in a way to leave it a little brighter.

Title: Don McLean - Vincent (Starry, Starry Night) lyrics

Starry, starry night.
Paint your palette blue and grey,
Look out on a summer's day,
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul.

Shadows on the hills,
Sketch the trees and the daffodils,
Catch the breeze and the winter chills,
In colors on the snowy linen land.

Now I understand what you tried to say to me,
How you suffered for your sanity,
How you tried to set them free.
They would not listen, they did not know how.
Perhaps they'll listen now.

Starry, starry night.
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze,
Swirling clouds in violet haze,
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue.
Colors changing hue, morning field of amber grain,
Weathered faces lined in pain,
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand.

Now I understand what you tried to say to me,
How you suffered for your sanity,
How you tried to set them free.
They would not listen, they did not know how.
Perhaps they'll listen now.

For they could not love you,
But still your love was true.
And when no hope was left in sight
On that starry, starry night,
You took your life, as lovers often do.
But I could have told you, Vincent,
This world was never meant for one
As beautiful as you.

Starry, starry night.
Portraits hung in empty halls,
Frameless head on nameless walls,
With eyes that watch the world and can't forget.
Like the strangers that you've met,
The ragged men in the ragged clothes,
The silver thorn of bloody rose,
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow.

Now I think I know what you tried to say to me,
How you suffered for your sanity,
How you tried to set them free.
They would not listen, they're not listening still.
Perhaps they never will... (5 years and 3815 days ago)

this song/poem was a final exam for me in high school.. i failed because I analyzed it too much lol.... night choice goodluck.

hsbee says:

he he nice work author and my appreciation for the patience u had to do this work. it looks very exhausting.... but somehow i dont find ur lens flare effects on the pic..?? am i missing something??? gl

edit: hmm..the bg gradient like effect... okie,... how abt u reduce the size of the berry and make the image more detailed? very nice work author .. i am a fan of ur style of work.. its not very easy to do these..

author says:

hsbee, its in the back layer,(behind everything) it causes the slight back light effect (starry starry LIGHT) Can you imagine the GRIEF I would get if I put it on the surface ? hehehehehe

EDIT: Hsbee?!?!?!, actually I did think about shrinking the berry but I realized it would then look like an ordinary reproduction and I always love that effect but after it's all done it's like..well what was the point of all that work just to make the same exact thing LOL

avatar ponti55
