Oh, I'd like to see a hi-res version...
A friend of mine asked me to create the cover art for his new album. Of course, this is the version without text.
The image contains 6 different photos of mine taken over the last few years, combined to create a surrealistic & exaggerated "storm of the century" - like image. Nothing was from an outside source other than the brushes used to create the lightening.
Techniques to create the image were all performed in Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3.

This is very nice image but i don't see it as surrealism...Every single element is blended very well and all together presents very nice image but without surreal mood...Try to add some pieces that will enhance theme of this contest....
Congrats with a spot in the next round
Good luck on the next round!

:O forgot my cloud brushes! :P http://javierzhx.deviantart.com/art/Cloud-Brushes-34277964
and thanks cmyk..i guess i should have done MORE highlights. :P because i did some.
no time to fix it before contest end now... :P
Very electrifying!
heavy reliance on stock brushes when a better approach would have been to make them or achieve the same results within photoshop itself...
Wow James...did you read where I said it was my FIRST attempt at this? Sorry but I find your comment completely useless, as I'm sure there are ways to do it without brushes. I just happened to use brushes. Its like saying someone relies too much on stock photography.resources that are meant to be used.
Emo Storm???

Made from a glass Vase and a Plate with a Housing relief pattern (5 years and 3588 days ago)
Well, your car looks like a... car! And the theme is to make a car with unusual stuff, like sinks, bath tubs. Am I wrong?
erikuri.. it's made out of a glass vase and a Charger bowl with 24 KT gold leaf pattern that looks a bit like a street in an ancient city
You are right NATOR.. but I've been having some major problems saving HI RES lately (I get the corrupted file jpeg warning.. I can save in GIANT JPEG but then they are too big to upload (14+mb)... (I'm in the process of transferring everything into a TB storage backup.. pain in the pattoot) thanks for all your wonderful comments
Unique, interesting image. The front and rear (to a lesser extent) of the car seem bent towards the viewer [step 5 of SBS still looks flat; joint with center cab is the problem, I think] which makes for an unconvincing curvy car. Not sure about the blue glow, especially around the window. I think more difference between the wheel reflections would also be warranted. And the head- and tail-lights seem on top of the image, not part of the car (need a setting not unlike a gem on a ring).
Reminds me of Gotham City.
very nice idea...i like overall mood very much...good luck author
