This is my idea for the contest. A turtle island inhabited only by one man.
I modified the lighting and the shadows of the source image and the turtle to match the sunset.
Hope you like it! :D
EDIT: I improved the light rim of the tree and replaced the man with one from a photo. Hope it's better now erathion! :D (5 years and 3537 days ago)
Nice overall work, a really nice looking image, but be careful with the white edges around the tree and the man. Also be sure to post all of the sources you used.
EDIT: Ah, okay Great job and good luck.
thanks for the comment. the white margins were made intentionally, because of the backlight. i posted all the sources. the man is made by me using paths and painting over.
Nice color. The turtle would have a bigger shadow, and maybe blur the rim lighting just a bit. Good luck!
Welldone Author..
Great work author...Few minor nit picks...u should blur a bit black boat and people on horizon, then glow from the sun on a guy and on a tree can be way better,u achieve that on the turtle, try to do the same on other objects...So that's it,i love this work so much and i will wait with voting, maybe u apply some changes...best of luck
i love the shadding you have given on the turtle
great work
Congrats for your third place, Keenox!
Congratulations!
thanks everyone for votes

Wonderful effect, really nice entry. Good work and good luck! (Excellent depth of field)
Almost flawless! Aside from the head, the use of the grass brush is very nice. Very convincing result. I just have a suggestion to slightly blur the edge beyond the ear, it's too sharp (especially when you create a shallow DOF like that). High score for sure
Really wonderful and so nice ...GL for you author
love it
Great job!
Thanks for the comments Fixed the sharp edges.
Great idea and execution. I especially like the cracks. Good luck!

Amazing job you did here!
Very nice creation........G/L Author.
Great great job Author...
brilliant work ....... all the best to u ..........
Great job author, really really good.Few minor observations, lighter part of the head needs a bit more shading, now when u watch high resolution looks a bit flat. And i don't understand step 10 in your SBS,how did u make grass, used some image,brushes?!?...Any how this is fabulous work and i wish u best of luck.
Thanks erathion. I fixed the SBS(used the grass brush) and I slightly added some shade to the image to give it some depth.
nice work!

used only source and personal stock to make this.
My SBS isn't all that informative, so heres a shortened version of the play by play...
*removed jumping couple.
*removed shadows
*removed people from the ocean
*removed people from the sidelines on the left
*changed hue and increased saturation
*selected boy from personal stock and placed on bench
*burned shadows onto the bench
*added boys shadows to the grass
*did some blurring around the edges of the boy to make him more a part of the picture.
Comments and critiques always welcome :) Thank YOU! (5 years and 3553 days ago)
It's simple but effective. GL!
Yes, but little boy needs some lighting, as he is under the sun...
good luck

Maybe you should play a little with contrast and brightness
Cute!... How about put some shading to give it depth?
since you used such a dark and realistic back ground you could darken the bear with the burn tool (light setting at first and just start on the edges) OR you could do the reverse and make the back ground more cartoonie.. but the assembled bear is quite adorable.. good luck author!!!
Thanks for all your comments, hope it looks better now
I agree with Drivenslush, and it seems the bear is floating maybe try to play with the shadow under him. However good job and ggod luck Author.
This is really cute. May I suggest making the bear just a little bigger. Also, possibly shade right under the bears feet/ tummy.
great mood! i'd just make the paws a little bit darker..
Nice idea and execution. It's hard to see the nice work done here without going to full view. I would suggest making the bear bigger maybe half the size of the whole image. I would also had shadows between the stomach and the arms to create some separation. Good luck!
Nice little bear. Good background for it too.
cute job....
Very nice Teddy...good luck author
good luck
also congrats for 5th place..

I absolutely love this! Wonderful entry.
Nice entry!
very nice imagination...good luck
Really nice grass masking! Good luck!
The shadow on the field seems almost random, be sure that it matches the shape and width of the painting.
