post melting through a manhole cover

techniques used
Layering,Burning,Smudging, plastic wrap filter ,color overlays and layer blending modes,Some cloneing ,
layer masks,and the warp tool

Edit: I posted this and used the manhole cover I thought was one I had shot but on a closer look it looks as if it was a stock image from
Wikimedia commons
the one I had shot had english writing this one seems to be different .
Sorry Was not my intent to steal the content . And thank you CMYK for asking me to upload the original or I would have never seen the mistake Source added now (5 years and 3499 days ago)

very different approach author.. good luck..

author says:

Thank you
I was going for something different from what was already posted.

The shadow is too thin, at wrong angle, & the edge should be blurred. The melted part of the manhole cover should probably still have a slight glow. Post your uncut original photo in SBS. See http://www.pxleyes.com/guidelines/

Melting chocolate boy - created by Duke79

I created the drops in a mask, copied and blurred it.
Copied the blurred watch channel in a new document and saved it as a texture.

Used a black and white picture (desaturated) and strechted it out over the background, blurred it and applied the glass filter with the saved texture. Put distort at maximum and a slight smoothness.

Cut out the non watch parts and then applied a bunch of layer styles to get the fluidlike effect. (5 years and 3589 days ago)

Hmm... Delicious! Makes me wanna eat this watch immediately Good work and great SBS! And good to know, that I'm not the only one, who is always "happy" when Windows suddenly decideds to reboot

author says:

Yes i agree, i think i will make a melting windows system soon. Thanks for the comments. The guide will be updated soon, at work atm so i cant do anything to update it. The original step 3 is missing, and the last few still need to be added.

Don't forget to credit author of the tutorial that u used...

author says:

@Erathion: What are you saying? I've been covering more things in goo the last few years, this one is no different.

avatar erathion

This technique that u use Mark Monciardini show's on his DVD course Photoshop Top Secrets-Liquid metal...I think that the image of the castle is the same...Sorry if i wrong but i think that technique is the same.

avatar Barnacle
Barnacle says:

They showed that on a DVD ? lol. And someone bought it ? lol

author says:

I learned this technique from a friend a while back, and it was used to make a chrome effect he said, and indeed it worked.
I really dont know if he got it from a dvd.I'll ask him when i see him again.

Edit: The guide is finished now
