nice idea -- shadow needs a bit of work perhasp a bit less opacity of a bit more spread ?? Shadows are not even close to one of my stong points but it seem a bit off to my eye

Flip the foot...light on face is from left, and on foot from right. Make the foot more red like a tongue and you've got something. The expression is great!
Edit: Well, it seems like the tongue/foot is more red. which is a good thing, but the light source is still wrong...need to flip the foot to match.
