Very interesting idea, you need to work on the mouth i think, because to me it still looks like a beak and not a fish. Good luck!
kinda looks like a koala to me LOL.. good luck author
nice...
you might want to add some gnarly lookin teeth in the mouth there to add a scarey affect to the overall image because right now,..., not very scarey IMO

and i moved the eyes (5 years and 3830 days ago)
just because of all the realism..you could burn around the eyes ever so slightly to give them a less cartoon feel..but totally unnecessary.. because this is just down right GREAT!!!
Love the owls eyes...gl..
good idea, but lighting wrong
cute.. reminds me of stewart little... the movie
that owl seems not very friendly...

AWESOME!!! WOOO!!!
Very nice work, well done. this looks like a winner to me
good work
I really like this! The owl reminds me of Clash of the Titans for some reason (I think its the eyes). My only suggestion would be to have the branch Mr. Owl is standing on stretch all the way off the screen. Dunno why, but seeing it hovering there in midair kinda bugs me. In any event, excellent work author!
OMG... Never thought it was you... Anyways great job on this... Feels different yet nice...
wow, very large step on road of improvement, keep going

only the source pic and i recorded an action from a tutorial found here
http://www.n-sane.net/effects/3d-spiral-abstract/index.php
there were too many steps to list. lots of duplicating layers and flipping them around, adding color (5 years and 3845 days ago)
nice use of source

Very Cool!! Good Luck
nice wrk..............................................gl
amazing work
damn.... that is talent your an inspiration i even made my own first teny tiny attempt at making something with the source image, but very tiny compared to this lol
Wow!
nice idea recording actions and repeating steps, but to me this image seems only to be a showoff of your skills, as a piece of artwork, it's meaningless and doesn't bring any mood or perspective. My suggestion would be wether make the background flat or add shadow to the owl. In the tutorial you linked, the technic has a potential to be used to create 3 demensional graphic, but you've only used it in a 2 demensional way. It's an okay entry to me.
Congratulations for 2nd
Congrats! Very well done.

great entry!
Nice!! It looks great!!
Nice image....The moon would be giving of some ambient light maybe you could add this to the tree & owl...
I like how you left some of the detail from source image in the wing...have to agree with warlock, some ambient lighting and possibly some very soft glow would really set this piece off. Good image though
Congrats for your second place!
Congratulations for 2nd
